Alexis Jackson, Mentor & Career Coach
Alexis Jackson is from Memphis, TN. Alexis is currently the Social Media Manager for Essence Magazine and has previously worked for People Magazine and AOL.com
At Vanderbilt, she majored in Creative Writing and Studio Art and was a member of the Eta Beta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Black Student Alliance, and the Vanderbilt Chapter of the NAACP. Alexis hosted three solo art shows and was named the 2015 winner of the Vanderbilt Art Department’s Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award, a $25,000 cash prize that allows students to travel and create art for a year.
Earlier in 2019, Vanderbilt named Alexis a distinguish Alumna and invited her to speak at the Vanderbilt Alumni Speakers Series.
When not out shooting footage at various live events for Essence Magazine’s social media feeds, Alexis looks forward to mentoring the Admissionary’s students and sharing the secrets to her success as both a student, an artist, and media professional.
