Joseph Han, Advanced Writing Mentor

Joseph Han is a queer Korean writer born in Seoul, South Korea. He is the author of ‘Uncrossable: Stories’ (YesYes Books, forthcoming in March 2020), as well as a poetry collection, CUPPING (The Operating System, forthcoming 2020). His fiction, poetry, and nonfiction have appeared in Joyland Magazine, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Little Fiction, wildness, and Entropy. A 2019 Pushcart nominee, he has a Ph.D. in English from the University of Hawaiʻi-Mānoa. 

During his years in academia, Joseph taught both expository and creative writing at all levels. His versatility a reader, writer, and teacher allows him to quickly adapt his instruction style to the needs and idiosyncrasy of each student. He collaborates with students at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and outlining to those final revision.

He is also trained in literary and visual analysis. He also has experience serving on graduate program admissions committees and guided several applicants through the process of assembling a compelling portfolios and candidate introductions.
