Teresa Nowakoski, Writing Instructor & Journalism Adviser
Teresa Nowakowski is a sophomore at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where she is pursuing a degree in Journalism at the Medill School.
At Northwestern, Teresa is a contributor to the student publication North by Northwestern. This spring, she served as the assistant section editor for the online Life & Style section in addition to being the assistant section editor for one of four sections of the publication’s quarterly print magazine. This fall, Teresa will be the Life & Style section editor.
Teresa currently serves as the Communications Residential College Technology Chair, as well as the residential colleges’s Environmental/Green Chair. She is the treasurer of Northwestern’s chapter of Team Enough, a branch of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the Outreach Chair for Students for Ecological and Environmental Development and a core member of Northwestern’s chapter of Swing Left. Teresa also marches trombone in the Northwestern University Marching Band.
Having grown up reading her hometown’s newspaper (and having had plans pre-pandemic to intern for them), Teresa is passionate about supporting local journalism. As someone deeply concerned about the environment as well as the role of the press as the fourth estate, Teresa is also especially interested in investigative journalism.
